Things to do & places to see

Crete is rich in scenery with an abundance of tall mountains, beaches, gorges of astounding beauty and a capital, buzzing with activity.

Crete offers the chance to visit the vast Minoan Palace of Knossos, which is associated with the legendary King Minos. It's also home to the legends of Icarus and the monstrous Minotaur - maybe it's something to do with the inspiring landscape!

Knossos Palace

Visit Knossos, the capital of the ancient Minoan civilization that flourished 4,000 years ago, only to disappear without a trace in 1,500 BC. Excavations of the Knossos Palace have since opened up this lost world. Once you have explored the archaeological site, you'll head for Heraklion for free time or an opportunity to visit the Archaeological Museum (entrance fee 6.00 euros not included).

Natural Crete

Crete has so much to offer and on this excursion you will see the true island. We include visits to the fishing port of Agios Nikoloas, villages of Krista and Tzemiado and an authentic olive farm where you can watch the production of oil. Included is a Cretan lunch. A great way to see this fantastic island.
