Limon Highlights
Puerto Limón is known for its rich ethnic and cultural background. Columbus and the first Spaniards came for the first time in the early 1500's and today much of that cultural heritage still survives. Only thirty minutes after leaving the pier are magnificent roads full of lowland rainforest and later visit a Banana Plantation and its processing facility for an enlightening look into how bananas are selected, cleaned and prepared for their trip to the breakfast table from this tropical paradise
We invite you to enter one of the most exotic regions in the tropics, the Tortuguero Canals, known to be the Costa Rican Amazons, the canals are a navigable network of lakes and channels that cross Tortuguero National Park from the southeast to the northwest and serve as waterways for transportation and exploration becoming a mean to enjoy all their surrounding nature. Specially designed boats will take you through on an approx one-hour journey. The tour generally allows you to admire exceptional flora and fauna in their natural habitats, including orchids, birds, monkeys, toucans as well as an unending diversity of plants and trees from up close-up.
Still daydreaming with the majestic scenery, its back to the mainland where an awesome private jungle reserve awaits with a magnificent butterfly garden, an aviary with lots of different species of tropical birds and a system of walkways suspended a couple of feet from the jungle ground making it accessible to wheelchairs and suitable for all ages. Virgin rainforests bending towards a sapphire and emerald ocean... and a dark and unspoiled sand beach is the alluring sight that welcomes you if you decide to look around at this beachfront property. Enjoy a tasty local lunch at this breathtaking location before browsing for a gift or two at the reserve's gift shop. Costa Rica Traditions & Coffee Tour
You will travel through the beautiful countryside by deluxe coach into the valley of Turrialba where the slopes of the Turrialba Volcano are home to a great coffee tradition. You will visit the Golden Bean Coffee Farm where you will learn all about the production of Costa Rica's most famous crop, hand picked for over 200 years. Stock up on your fresh roasted coffee before heading to century-old Tayutic Hacienda, sugar and coffee plantation. On arrival a tasty Costa Rican lunch will be served followed by a demonstration on the sugar cane process. See how the juice is extracted and then turned into sugar and other delicious treats. After, you will have time to wander through the beautiful tropical gardens, with breathtaking mountain views. Take a look inside the century old colourful metal chapel with its stained glass and antigues brought by German pilgrims. Time to browse for a gift or two before returning back to the pier.
Cattle Ranch Experience on Horseback
Your chance to become a true 'City Slicker' as you try your hand at rounding-up the herds on this tropical, family-run cattle ranch. Join the family in their daily activities and learn how to move cattle from one pasture field to another. You will ride around the ranch in true cowboy fashion stopping at the African Palm Oil Plantation for an inside into the oil's production process. Enjoy the countryside as you gallop on these beautiful horses, don't forget your stetson yeah ha!

Tortuguero Canals

As we board the boats at Moin Pier, we invite you to enter one of the most exotic regions in the tropics, Tortuguero Canals, known to be the Costa Rican Amazons. The canals are a navigable network of lakes and channels that cross Tortuguero National Park from the southeast to the northwest. This allows the flora and fauna of the region to be seen close up.
Part of these canals also serve as waterways for transportation and exploration and have become a means to enjoy the surrounding nature. You will experience the natural habitat of amongst others orchids, birds, monkeys, toucans as well as a diversity of plants and trees.
After your boat ride we will escort you back to the ship while still remembering and daydreaming about the majestic scenery you have experienced.
